Welcome to Connections Psychotherapy. Sharon offers a safe and welcoming space to anyone who is worried about themselves, their child or relationships in their family. Sharon also meets with people who are not worried but who may want to have a confidential space to work something out or reflect on something in their life or for self-development.
The therapy space is a bright comfortable room based at BodyRight, 27, Fair Street, Drogheda where Sharon will meet you to discuss how therapy might be of help and to think together about what way of working might suit you best.
After an initial phone call, Sharon offers a session to meet you and hear about you and any concerns you may have as well as providing an opportunity for you to hear about the therapy offered and decide if it would be helpful. This meeting usually lasts between one hour and one and a half hours. After this session, you can go home and think about whether you would like to attend the service or not.
If you decide that you/your child would like to come, Sharon usually offers 6 sessions initially followed by a review to check in how the therapy is going and whether you wish to continue with further sessions if you have found them helpful. There is no limit on the number of sessions, this is entirely up to you and Sharon to figure out together. Sometimes therapy might be brief and last for 4-6 sessions. Other times, therapy may continue for a number of years. This is reviewed by you and Sharon together as the therapy progresses.
Appointments between clients attending the therapy practice are spaced out because part of the work of therapy is for Sharon to spend time thinking about you and each session after you have left, so there should not be another therapy client waiting with you in the waiting room or there when you leave.
As we are based in a healthcare setting, the waiting room is shared with other health services such as physiotherapy, nutritionist and occupational therapy.
Please email Sharon at sharon@connections-psychotherapy.ie if you would like to arrange a meeting. You can send a text message to 089-4390358 with your first name and phone number to request a call back also. Calls and texts are usually responded to Tuesday-Thursday between 9am and 4pm.
In the case of an immediate worry or concern about yourself or a child, please contact your GP/GP out of hours or hospital A&E in case of an emergency. TUSLA social work services or the gardai can be contacted in the case of a concern in relation to the safety, protection or welfare of a child.
Therapy sessions can be arranged Tuesdays-Thursdays 8.30am-5pm.
